Safety comes first
An online program can't watch you train, so we take extra care before, during and after building it. Here's exactly how.
Before we build anything: screening
Everyone starts with the Adult Pre-Exercise Screening System (APSS), developed by Exercise & Sports Science Australia, Fitness Australia (now AUSactive) and Sports Medicine Australia. It's the same screen used by trainers and gyms across Australia, and asks about things like heart conditions, chest pain, dizziness, asthma, diabetes and joint problems.
- All clear? You go straight on to the questionnaire.
- Answered yes to anything? We'll ask you to speak with your GP or another health professional before you start. When you have their go-ahead, come back and confirm it, and we'll build your program.
- No workarounds. We don't offer a "lighter" program to skip the GP step. If clearance is needed, we wait.
We don't ask you to upload medical certificates. We record your answers and your confirmation, with the date, so there's a clear record.
The right program for your age
| Age | What's available |
|---|---|
| Under 12 | Not available |
| 12 to 15 | Not available |
| 16 and 17 | Own program with a parent or guardian's consent: bodyweight, plus a light band for some sport exercises |
| 18 to 64 | Full program, any goal and equipment |
| 65 and over | Active Ageing program, with extra balance and falls questions in the screening |
Who Coastline PT isn't for
Some situations need a professional who can see you in person, so we won't build a program if you:
- are pregnant, or have given birth in the last six months (a GP, midwife or women's health physio is the right place to start)
- need rehabilitation for an injury, surgery or medical condition (see a physiotherapist or accredited exercise physiologist)
Every exercise professionally reviewed
Programs are built only from our exercise library. Every exercise, and every rule for how they're combined and progressed, has been individually reviewed and signed off by Train90 founder David Silver (Certificate III and IV in Fitness, Diploma of Fitness). New exercises can't appear in a program until they're approved.
If you tell us about a sore knee, back or shoulder, exercises that load that area are excluded and replaced with safer options.
Every program checked before you see it
- Automatic checks confirm every exercise matches your equipment, age group, experience and anything you've asked us to work around.
- AI writes the personal touches, like coaching notes, but can only choose from approved exercises. Anything it suggests is re-checked, and anything that fails is thrown out.
- If a program doesn't pass, it goes to a person for review instead of being sent to you.
While you train: know when to stop
Stop exercising and seek medical help if you feel chest pain, severe breathlessness, dizziness or faintness. In an emergency, call 000.
Also stop if you feel sharp or worsening pain (not just effort), feel sick, or your technique is breaking down. Rest, and don't push through.
If your health changes during your program, tell us and redo the safety check before you continue.
Your health answers stay private
Your answers are stored in Australia. Our AI provider never receives your name, email or safety answers, only de-identified details like your goal and equipment. Read the privacy policy.
